Some from this afternoon at an event in Manhattan, I'm addicted to this lens, I took my 24-70mm f2.8 and the Sigma 35mm 1.4 and I shoot 80% of the event with the Sigma.

anybody order sigma 35mm from 17th street photo? They seem to have it in stock but reseller rating is quite sucky. Im scared of something like them selling a returned batch with focusing issues.

Any input?

How does the Sigma 35 manual focus? Does it compare to their Sigma 85 HSM. I actually really like how dampened the MF ring is on the Sigma 85 and would purchase this Sigma 35 if the ring was slightly dampened. I use my Sigma 85 a ton for video, so looking to find something like the 35 to compliment it. Love the pictures from this lens so far!

I have both and IMO they have very similar focus mechanisms and feel, and the focus throw is almost exactly the same. The 35 has a considerably wider focus ring and I felt that focusing with it is a little tad smoother, but not a noticeable difference.

I bought a couple of things from 17th Street a few years ago without incident. Keep in mind that people are much more likely to give reviews when they're ticked-off than when they're happy.

+1 as well. I also own both and find the 35's focus ring slightly smoother than the 85, but both are still good.

However, I really preferred the Nikon 35mm 1.4's focus ring...when I still had it at least. Was a bit better for video with a longer focus throw and an even smoother rotation.

I am feeling the urge to test out the Sigma as I'd have use for f/1.4 and sometimes the AF.
The sigma is about 1/2 price of the Zeiss 35/1.4, but yes, sharpness is not everything.

I got my lens a week ago. I have to hand it to Sigma, I've always been leery of third party lenses (other than Zeiss), but this lens is really wonderful.

The only fly in the ointment: my copy seems to consistently underexpose by 2/3 to 1 stop at all apertures on my D800. Anyone else notice the same thing? I'm wondering if I should contact Sigma to get a replacement.

Might be the aperture coupling on the lens needs calibration. In Manual mode, shoot at f/2.8 and f/.4 at the same shutter speed and see if there's a 1 stop difference in EV. If not then it's likely the aperture coupling.
