I know this is a little OT but seeing as this is the most active X100 related thread right now I thought I'd ask here as it'll be more likely to get a response. Basically, I'm interested if anyone can compare the size of the OVF compared to something I've used myself. For example, my hi-matic 7s2, I guess many cameras of this type (cheap fixed lens RF) have a similar VF - can anyone compare? I was just doing a little research as found more reports of the OVF being quite small than I would have liked. Hopefully not Minilux small...

I think the X100 has a right-sized OVF. Here's a comparison of the X100, left bottom, Olympus 35 SP, left top, and Canon 1DIV, right top and bottom.
The X100 finder is brighter and probably a bit sharper. The X100 finder seems to be a bit "bigger", but the 42mm lens on the Oly makes it difficult to compare them directly. I normally use cameras with very nice finders (i.e. 1DX, 1DIV, and 5DII), and the X100 finder doesn't seem lacking in comparison.
The X100 also allows you to overlay digital info on the optical finder; level line, shooting params, histogram, distance scale - it's a whole new ball game.
Ah that sounds good then. I just know I'm spoilt with the a900 VF, something other VF's just seem tiny & dark in comparison. If it's at least comparable to the Oly (perhaps slightly bigger) then that's all I need to know. The extra info you can overlay has always intrigued me as well... particularly distance scale.
love my x100. i know it'd be silly to upgrade, but i'd be lying if i said it wasn't tempting.
question for you guys: is the x trans sensor exactly the same in this body, the xe1 and the xpro1?
i haven't been paying that much attention. i'm also seeing that you can grab an xpro1 for a really nice price used, and again i'd be lying if i said it wasn't interesting. the x100 is so nice i wanna be in on the action when fuji, in all their weirdness, rolls out some new stuff.
goosemang: The only real reason for an upgrade is if you need/want the extra 4 megapixel. That said, lust has nothing to do with logic, so, if you feel like it, just go for the new one and sell/donate the old one. And tell us about any real world differences you find!
Hmmm did the X100 really budge that much after 3 months? I was hoping to get one around March time, but it'll only just be out then so wouldn't have moved.
Well, I went ahead and pre-orderd an X100s. I figure it'll be good for that single camera/lens shooting when I want very high quality, but don't want more than one lens. Can replace a few redundant lenses in my system as a result. Now I just need to sit and wait for 2 months. Arghh... Why can't camera companies do stuff like Apple - Announce on one day, preorders start 3 days later, shipments start a week after that.
