after watching the youtube video of the fuji guy x100s, I'm sold even after just owning my x100 for a week and loving it.
ready to sell it and pre-order a x100s
i like how they put M and AF-S and MF on both opposite ends
Or...wait till the X100s hits the store shelves and the used price of the original X100 hits $500. That is what I am waiting. Would love to have an X100 just to use as a P&S when I don't want to lug around the Xpro1.

XP1 is too heavy? WOW! We certainly have different prespectives.
I would think that bimmer_mann is talking about physical size rather than weight. The XP1 isn't heavy but larger than I want for some outings. I took my son to the science museum this week but decided to leave the XP1 at home. I had enough to carry without worrying about my camera. He's a toddler so I'm carrying him with much more. I simply used my cell phone in that situation.

Yeah! What Yakim said.
My X100 with its leather half-case attached (as per usual) weighs 0.61 kg. My X-Pro 1 with XF 18/2 R attached weighs 0.63 kg - virtually the same. The X-Pro 1 with the massive XF 35/1.4 R lens attached weighs in at a hefty 0.73 kg. Come on, man!
I'm very happy with this update. It has everything I wanted. The X-trans sensor (I'm one of those people that really like it), better EVF and fast hybrid AF!
Would be a nice companion for my X-E1.
Τhe differentiating factor for me is always the "depth" dimension of the camera (ie the lens size mostly)
My x100 fits in my pants pocket, my xpro1 doesnt, and thats all the difference in the world.

True. OTOH, my X100 is almost always on a strap. I use an RX100 when I need a pocket camera.
An intriguing upgrade indeed. It will be interesting to see upcoming comparisons between XE-1/X-Pro1 shots with the XF 23 1.4 R vs. the X100s' 23 f/2. Let's assume the XF 23 1.4 will come in around $900.00. For and extra $400 you get a camera as well with the X100s. I have been using my X-Pro1 for some event work and better/faster AF would certainly be appreciated.

The AF improvements in the X100s are what sells me. I was considering the 23 f1.4 instead off the X100 successor but I will appreciate that AF speed as I snap photos of the kids running around the house. I still plan on purchasing the 56mm f1.4 and the X-Pro 1 successor (if it has this improved AF).

If the X100 is good enough for John Mayer and Katy Perry, why would anyone need an upgrade?!?!
John Mayer is actually quite a camera nerd, like us: link
This X100s looks pretty good, to me, outside of my opinion on the whole X-trans thing. It's pretty much what I expected. In fact, just the other day I was wondering whether some kind of digital rangefinder would be possible in the new model. This split image thing is pretty close, although it'd be even cooler if Fuji somehow managed to project it onto the OVF.

This will be a camera I will purchase. Perfect for those times I don't want to lug around the 5D mark iii.
💖 Ditto.. I love my 5dmk3 but it and a few lenses are a pain to carry around all the time. Now just wait to see all the people selling their X100's to upgrade to the X100S.. people like me.. https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1180376/0#11252357

ssnap: You are correct. I usually have the 35mm 1.4 attached to the XP1 and on some occasions the 18-55mm. If you compare the size of the X100 vs XP1 with either of those lenses, the difference in size is quite generous. Weight is not a big deal tho, albeit the zoom lens is relatively heavy.
