The weather here has been abnormally bad and that sure is saying something December has had 27 days with measurable rainfall so getting out and shooting has not been easy. The weather report for yesterday was morning fog and then sun. I decided I HAD to get out and figured I would head to the coast for Snowy Owls. By chance Doug, desertbighorn, PM'd me about heading out for owls so out we did go. The day was just plain perfect, we had a splendid time hiking around and working the owls. What a way to end the year I set a personal best for shots taken in a single day and that's saying something It was a joy to shoot with a guy like Doug, a very talented photographer to say the least. I can't wait to see what he has come home with. Here are two that I prettied up really quick.
Happy New Year everybody!!!! What a great place this forum is, thank you all and most of all thanks Fred
December has had 27 days with measurable rainfall That sux... it was partly cloudy here a few days ago.
#1 is a nice portrait that I would love to have.
#2 is "Photo of the Year" caliber Tim.
I LOVE everything about this one buddy... the perch, eye contact, light, color, and BG too... WOW what a gorgeous image.
Always a treat to view your work my friend, and it's been a real joy to shoot alongside you. Best wishes for an awesome 2013.
So this is MY last post of 2012! The apparent depth in both of these two images is astounding....you deserve an award for living in a city with bad weather of biblical proportions. Your reward was these wonderful owls...and you didn't even need to cross the border to get them...and probably home by lunchtime!
Hope you get a nice morning to go out and find some more....in 2013!
Eric
Great shots and the IQ is great with that TC. I like both, but it is too bad his/hers eyes were not more open. I tried a Kenko Pro awhile back on my 7D with my 400 5.6 and I did not like what I got. I am debating on getting a Canon mkIII TC to use with my 400 5.6 and 1D mark iv, but I am a little hesitant to pull the trigger. I may just get one and see though and return if I hate it.
Super end of the year shots Tim...# 2 is pure gold! I sure appreciate your huge contribution to this forum, with your fantastic images, and by generously helping all of us improve....cheers to you
