I don't see any need for higher resolution images any time soon. But if I'm documenting an important event such as this, I might as well have the highest available. Never know what I might want to do with it 5-10 years down the road. I would hate to have to track down the photographer and see if the files are still available then.

Photographers who include the full-resolution files are a dime a dozen these days. I imagine there are many clients who would automatically rule out of consideration any photog who doesn't include the full-res files in the package.
