Ive heard good things about the apo 180/3.4 too.
I doubt the non apo version 1 of the 180/2.8 Leica would beat the Tamron. Maybe the 2nd would have a better chance.
My Nikkors have a habit of losing lens tests.

I didn't want auto aperture and no af. And extension tubes are a pain. So I forgot about the 180/3.4. If you are shooting landscapes on a tripod focusing with live view this might not be a problem. I believe any gain over a 180 ED or Tamron might be rather minuscule.
What aperture do you like to use? F/8 should be ok but by f/16 performance can fall off. With a lot of lenses.
