Nothing to do with hatred or envy. It look like Leica hired Fisher-Price to design that X2. It just amazes me that people are willing to throw away so much money for something so ugly.
Honestly, I expect a Leica camera to be painted like a Swiss watch not like a Chinese car.
On the other hand, the green leather version looks quite nice.

To be clear, neither the Paul Smith X2, nor the Hermes M9 are my cup of tea. But they are special editions, and as such, the target clients are collectors and super stars. If they were all what Leica offered, that would be worthy of your criticisms, but luckily these versions are the exception. If they can make Leica extra cash to invest into r&d, good for them.
I buy my cameras to use them not to look at them, and Leica's standard editions are the most understated and utilitarian models ever made. That's what I like about this brand.
I don't have X2 but using X1.This tiny Leica compact PnS causes public attention. When go out with X1 , I receive so many questions : "leica"? or "I want one but not this time", "How much is it"? that never asked before for other camera ( using 2 Sigma SD, 2 Canons , 4 PnS) some people want me take some pics with this.I think about it many times but not certaintly find the answer, may be it's cute, b'cause of a wellknown design, may be the Leica name with big red dot. That's a inevitable advantage of this on others, especially for street shooting, it owns a sympathy look so may not terrify people away maybe?
