Same here, Ralph.....now we are supposed to be older and wiser.
"Older" is unfortunately certain, but I am not totally convinced about the "wiser" part though.

Eland, I guess I never tried (on purpose, that is) shooting BIF in "One shot AF" mode, so you are way ahead of me there.
However, I think Servo AF mode should work better on BIF, with preselected center AF point only.
If you'd like to challenge the camera and see how much difference that (-3 EV) AF sensor makes, these are a few ways of doing it:
(1) Low light level on the target.
(2) Low contrast target
(3) Target small in VF
(4) Target moves towards the camera, straight or oblique.
(5) Target is fast
(6) Mottled high contrast background, not very distant
Peter, I took note and take it as a homework from an X-man. But dont press me too hard. BTW: you were thinking of taking BIF (bats in fly)

Aland, you get a bat in flight picture and I shall call you Maitre Aland forever.

Life forced me to become older. Circumstances help me to stay wiser. Today I have to EARN the money I wish to spend BEFORE I do ...

A nice collection of shots, however, most of them do not say much about the 6D AF capability, or lack of it. I'd like to see some sports, car racing, dogs running and bird flying shots.
Here you go... 6D with a 70-200mm f2.8L non-IS. Used center focus point AI Servo. Did a pretty good job, especially considering the color of the dog's coat and bright sunlight.

you're welcome, they already call me like that all over here.
(Yes, I'll get the flying bats with the -3 central AF, scotching the 6D on my mini heli and using the wifi function, trying to get a smile )
Eckhard
I did handle a 6D demo in "my" camera store today.
Three observations:
(1) The camera feels solid and substantial, although it screams "plastic".
(2) The shutter sound I find quite pleasant.
(3) The single shot AF with center AF sensor is AWESOME in low light.....great speed and accuracy even with an f/4 lens. If anyone tells you otherwise, they do not have a clue.

OK Eckhard, I am looking forward to that miracle.

Thank you Peter. That was my experience month ago. But I only played with a 1Ds MK II and never really "used" a "1". I can not really compare. Great to hear this from a lens god, who shares his life with them.

Sweet doggie, nice shot Mike.
How many shots did you take, how many where in focus?

That's a good question... I did a test with a friend, his 7D against my 6D for focus tracking using his 70-200 f/4 non IS. The test was simple, we would run towards the camera while the other fired off some frames.
Guess which camera won, well it's not a hard one to get right, that said the 6D did okay and while not every shot out of the 6D was in focus it was better than 50%
If I wanted a camera for sports/action (not really my thing) I'd probably take a look at a used 1dmkIII.

Understanding that the 6D AF is not on par with the 7D (which I sold to buy the 6D) or my 1DIII I thought it did a very respectable job. The center point was very sensitive and if I kept the square on the subject it did pretty well. Move off the subject and it falls apart pretty fast. That may be improved somewhat with the limited AF settings. I'm shooting some JV basketball tonight and I'll bring the 6D to shoot alongside my 1DIII. The gym is a dungeon (no strobes allowed) and it will be interesting how the 6D will do with superior ISO vs. 1DIII superior AF.
