What a year! Awesome vacations, a move from Ottawa Canada to southern Germany on board the Queen Mary 2. New friends, travel to many new places. And my son left home for Cambridge University.
I've chosen to post my favourite shot, not my best.
Here he is, my last sight of him as he disappears into the Munich airport security system.
iPhone 5, heavily cropped with the "pinch" maneuver, motion blur, slow shutter speed and uncropped.
Favourite shot of 2012.
Wow, Cambridge! That's great, you must be very proud of your son.
Your selection as your favorite shot inspired me to re-visit some pictures I took before leaving my family behind to serve in Korea unaccompanied for a year. I'm sure looking at the image you posted here can be quite emotional...I found it a bit difficult to go back and look through mine.
There's a lot of bests in '12 and some of them even have people in them. Here's a shot of L.A. musician Fabrice Vignati - great rockabilly and gypsy jazz guitar player. Actually both shots are of him. Calls his music Gypsybilly.

One of my favs from this year was taken the other night. My kids, not fighting. This is a rare moment of my son not instigating his sister and his sister showing him some affection which is very very rare.
Oh man, SO difficult to choose just one. I guess I'd have to choose this shot, mostly because of how very happy it made my friends, this young soon-to-be-married couple, so very much in love.
