Also, as a general rule I'd support keeping political discussions out of photo threads. Maybe do what Pentaxforums did and create a separate subforum for political discussion where those who are so inclined can take all their debate. I come here to look at photos, discuss gear, and generally improve my knowledge of photography. I get more than enough political talk at other forums I go to.
Happy holidays, everyone.
I agree, but so many of us in this forum don't go to other forums or sub forums, so I guess it won't work. Maybe a separate thread for politics?

I've found some great stuff (not about to politics but related to it) in the Forum & Miscellaneous forum. It doesn't make sense to me to make a politics thread in an alt gear forum though -- you could just open a thread in the F&M forum and link to it to invite ppl to discuss there, but whatever floats your boat.

Well, about logic and sense, I am sure you are right But if there was a politics thread or forum over there somewhere, and we linked to it, I am sure that people here wouldn't really go over there. Hence the idea for a local thread where we could take heated discussions to keep the image and equipment threads clean.

lovely shots deadwolfbones, just wonderful
Thanks!
Carsten: At PF, at least, there is a very hardworking team of moderators who ensure that non-"Politics and Religion" threads don't get infected with off-topic talk, and that political threads mistakenly opened in the wrong sections get moved to where they ought to be. I know Fred's not as big on having mods here, but maybe it's something to think about.
(It's funny, the primary forum I post on has virtually no moderation, and generally that's the way I like it. But when it comes to photography boards I don't like anything else getting in the way of the on-topic discussions and I'm all for the jackbooted webboard thugs taking away people's gawd-given first amendment rights to free expression. People sure are complicated!)

The last thing we need here is another thread, it is already fragmented more than it needs to be IMO. There is a sub forum for off topic discussions already.

Good work on the moustache! I'll have to introduce myself too. Wait, didn't we have a thread for this somewhere?
Yes its somewhere out there, but I have no idea how it was named. My original intent was to put it there too.
Thanks. Moustache is by-product of my terminal laziness, havent shaved for few months, then thought maybe I could let bit more of that face-fur grow. So it stayed there. And probably will for near future. Interesting is that it causes much more curiosity among people than when I had hair dyed in blue. Guess Im looking bit "out-of-time" or so..

Maybe that's because most people here want to stay here and discuss photography with others who want to discuss photography on a photography forum ... just sayin' ... but I can be kinda simple like that.

Must have shot it with a 2.8/21 C/Z...

Happy Holidays to all and special thanks to Cogitech, Ulrikft, JimBuchanan, Steve Spencer, Carstenw, Makten, and countless others whose work dragged me into the world of Alt lenses. I don't have the time to strip and re-build mounts but admire the work of those who do and who have enabled me to explore creativity in ways I would never have tried without your help and inspiring images.
I have loved this thread so far and confess that I had not read any text until today and had instead had just drooled over the photos. Many have been old favorites of mine. Others were new to me and extraordinary. It is wonderful to see what others have considered their best work over time and that they share it with us. End of year time is one of introspection for me. For giving recognition and thanks. I have great admiration for shooters on this forum and the financial hole to which you have introduced me, brought about by far to many lens acquisitions.

Beautiful shots, especially the B&W shots! Something I probably shouldn't admit: it took me months, until just recently, before I saw what your avatar actually was. For the longest time I saw a man with a cap, hiding behind a large video camera Yeah, I know, probably I was the only one who made that mistake
