Beautiful shot with great depth and color. I joined this forum just so I could comment on this image. I love the shadows and the composition. My first thought was I am so glad someone didn't mess this up by making an HDR photo. The richness of those shadows just pull me into the photo and give it great depth. When I read it was done with an 8x10 camera I felt the pain of lugging those monsters around (made me laugh at my HDR thought too). I appreciate digital but this takes me back to the images that got me started in photography back in the late 70's. Thanks for posting this fabulous image.

I use a lightweight Ebony RW810 that weighs in at 9 lbs. I can't imagine having to carry anything heavier.
I'm sure that's a great camera, I had two Ebony 4x5s, the Ti and Te. My 8x10s were Deardorfs and Kodak 2D. The Deardorf was manageable on day hikes, I wouldn't have tried it on anything like what you did. 8x10 is such a great format to use, by far my favorite. I'd never go back to 4x5 from digital but 8x10 is a constant temptation.
Thanks for all the information and video about your adventure! Nice photograph!
After hiking just the short trail to Horse Shoe Bend in that loose sand I can not imagine what hiking with a 90 lb pack would be
Cherubino.
Phenomenal shot. To my eyes the shot was worth it but I didn't have to lug a 90 pound pack to get it. I really enjoyed you videos as well, it added something to the photograph knowing how hard you worked to get the shot.
