BTW, you can select just the foreground to apply the oil painting filter and exclude the sky. Or, you can use selection to apply the filter differently to the sky and the remainder.
Rusty, I think I find your first version better. I'll try to reproduce what you are doing this night, there are a lot of new things for me to master in photoshop so it might take some time.

I'll leave you all with a complete remake of the scene. Ok, I'll admit I am getting really carried away in the "oil painting" concept! But it's so much fun... I'll come back when I got something close to Rusty's results, which are really nice.
