Last week marked my 10 year anniversary as a member of the FredMiranda.com community! What amazing changes in the site, and of course in photography in general since then. I was working with my second or third digital camera by then (the high end p&s of the era), as well as still shooting 35mm and 6x7 medium format film. Within two months Fred had convinced me to get the new Canon 1Ds, and go full frame. It was an engineering marvel then, and opened the door for all the amazing equipment we have now. I remember all the landscapers posting here then, some of whom are still active. We really taught each other the ropes when so little info and experience was available.
I thank Fred for conceiving of and executing this site so well at a time when nothing like it existed. It helped make me the photographer I always wanted to be. Within a year I had my first solo photography show.
Thank you all for putting up with my moderations on this board. I still learn from you all here every day.
Here's the first image I posted. A 35mm slide scan...
Congrats on your tenure here...I recall my first digital...Sony Mavica (1997)..most know of it..stored the images to a floppy disc...how I wish I'd kept that unit...first digital SLR 35 was a Canon D60
Jeffery,
Thanks for your involvement in this forum and of course Fred's vision..
Yes your moderations are sometimes retentive, BUT more than often needed.
It is a significant part of what maintains the standards & the community.
That's great. I'm a noob but have found this site to be an amazing source of knowledge and have enjoyed my short amount of time. God willing, I look forward to one day reaching my 10 year anniversary on the site.
Jeffery, thanks to you and the rest of the moderators here at FM, without your help, anarchy would reign. I've always enjoyed your work and have appreciated you're no BS critiques...Thanks!
Man, we are getting old!
I remember when the site first started, many members were posting slide film.
Love the first image you posted Jeffrey!
Thanks for all the years you put into the site!
Fred
Ive been here a few years and been photographing for 25 so I also saw the DSLR born and grow up. Looking back the Canon 1DS was just far ahead of its time. It took Nikon 4 years to release a full frame dslr and by then Canon had the affordable 5D out and the 1DS2 and released the 1DS3 at the same time. All ahead of its time.
