Same here for a new Sigmonster with OS and focus limiter.
Maybe Sigma can resurrect the 400 f/5.6 APO that was highly regarded. A new version in the sport range with OS an HSM would be great. Ultimately I hope the entire supertele range is revamped and they even consider a 400/500/600 f/4.

If you read the full text of the review, the Sigma and Canon lenses test equal up by f/2.8. The Sigma is only better at f/1.4 and f/2.0.
When I purchase a 1.4 lens, I do it because I want to shoot it open too (and in main), not to stop it down for one or two stops always to get on competitors IQ.

+1 Ralph, I always try to shoot wide open with my crippled yet sharp wide open Canon 50mm 1.4

I now have high expectations for the new 120-300.
Sigma claims that the new lens is exactly the same optically, so I don't expect things getting better in this area.
The improvements are mechanical and there is the addition of a focus distance limiter switch and the USB connectivity.

Maybe when we shot film and it was hard to get rid of, But I have not seen it in any of my 4 Sigma lenses.
Having the 85L and the 85 sigma at the same time I noticed a much warmer color cast on the sigma. I tested 6 copies of the sigma and we're all the same. Not a big deal to fix in post, but it is there.

I also own both and I agree, though the sigma is actually in nikon mount.
But I have to ask: is warmer colors a bad thing?
I mean... L lenses have warmer (richer) colors than non L lenses, don't they?
I don't usually hear people complaining about that... quite the opposite really.
If there is a specific color cast (one color richer than others) like the old yellow cast previous sigmas were known for, than I would agree that it is not desirable.
But if all the colors are richer (more saturation) than I don't see that has a bad thing, quite the contrary in fact.
I believe that is the case with the 85mm 1.4.

Sigma has really upped the ante in the lens game during the past few years. My most expensive lenses are in fact made by Sigma, and I consider them excellent value.
The pricing of the new 35mm Sigma is strange, though. Here in Finland a major store is listing it for €849, which is much lower then the €999 euro price quoted here.

I still have high hopes for this zoom. I want the option of 300/2.8 but I don't want to be limited to 300/2.8.
If Sigma gets this right and Canon releases a new 100-400 I would be in zoom heaven.

I'm not sure if I read this right, so forgive me if I messed up.
Saying it beats the canon at 1.4 and at 2 (I'm assuming also 1.6/1.8/2.2/2.5 as well) seemed to me like that poster was trying to "downplay" the difference and (poor word choice on my part) defend the added expense of the canon.
When you buy a fast prime, you're generally buying it because of its speed, not to stop it down 2 stops. So wouldn't it stand to reason that a lens that beats another lens at 1.4-2.5, and is equal up from there out, is the better lens?
Correct me if in wrong but isn't more wide open sharpness a good thing?

I have to admit, I have long been a fan of the 35L, heck it's still my most used lens, but if I can get equal or better performance from a lens that costs less you better believe I'm going to sell it and pocket the difference.
Though I must admit I am still curious about the 35 f/2 IS... Just a little bit.
