Some quick selections from my trip last week... I have to edit all 2,000+ pictures, but plan to get them on Flickr park-by-park the next two weeks. Hoping to get one up today. This lens is simply stunning.

Note: Photobucket kills some of the quality... Once I start to get stuff on Flickr I will post some new stuff.

Thanks everybody!

The first six are all shot at f/1.4.... The seventh image is f/8 and the final one is f/2.2.

Using a 5D Mark III.

Great shots, AND for the doubters out there, SLRGear has just made a review of this lens:
http://slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/1561/cat/30
I have a few gripes with it though... they speak of "significantly soft corners when used wide open at /1.4", and on their blur plot it looks like this:

However, I think this is in no way a case of "significant" softness. In that case, what would you call results like these:

(Sigma 28/1.8)
On a side note, the Sigma 35 seems to be sharper than the 35L but it's pretty well established already... and the test cameras were very different so it's not apples to apples comparison.

Excessive vignetting is very noticeable on most wide shots. Corners also not much sharper. I would better stay with my 35L it is just perfect on 5D3 ...

Read Snopchenko link to the lens test above your post.
The Sigma at /2.8 where the corners are tamed enough that the lens is offering practically tack-sharp performance from corner to corner.
They say the Canon 35L has intense corner softness.
All fast wide angle lenses including the Canon has rather much vignetting wide open. If you don't like it PS or LR will correct it for each lens without you have to do anything. It's not a big deal at all.

My edge performance wide open has been fantastic... Really impressive. Just check out all my shots above, all shot wide open.

This lens clearly exceeds at resolution across the frame compared to the 35L, no contest. I have owned the 35L twice now, so I do have experience with it. Love that lens... I do love the Sigma 35, more though.

I did send my original Sig 35 back for an exchange though, due to some strange AF behavior... Depending on lighting, distance, etc... I got varying results. Outdoors, leaving the MA at 0 was best and got amazing results. In artificial light, I required +9 for sharp results. It also varied with distance, so that might be the result of my findings as well (versus light). So I am trying another. If this next one works perfectly at all distances and lighting, it will be by far my favorite lens. The performance is simply amazing and AF is quick and reliable (other than the adaptive MA values above). No crazy misses or anything of the sort, works as good as any L lens as far as accuracy for me on my 5D3.

Corners seem very sharp when compared to the 35L.

This test kinda shows it. http://lcap.tistory.com/entry/Sigma-35mm-f14-vs-Canon-35mm-f14-L

Rickuz,
Thanks for your link. The test is very detailed. And also very good. It clearly shows that the Sigma 35 is much sharper than the Canon 35L.

I tried that - I shot a slew of photos at 2 focal distances; first was 2-3 feet with both 0 AF adjustment (was fine) and +17 AF (consistently backfocused).

At 8-10 feet all the 0 AF adjustment shots were front focused and the +17 were about 60% hits.

I give up. I've spent every day I've owned it trying to fine tune it in. I've probably fired off 500 test shots or more. At some point with a week old $900 lens I just want another copy.

Same here. I've spent 8 days trying to fine tune 2(!) copies. Finally, I gave up and exchanged the second copy for a new 35L today. Guess what? It's flawless with 0 AF adjustment needed. Note to self: stick to L glass.

When it hits -- it's outstanding! EOS 5D MKII, Sigma 35 1.4 at F/1.4
