So tempted to pre-order, images look as good or better than expected, the rest i had decided on long ago. Thanks go out to Canon for creating an affordable FF body, the 6D will sit next to an E0S3, no more crop factor to think on...well must keep one cropper around for the reach
Did anyone seriously believe the 6D would be worse? It's a newer sensor with less resolution.
Playing with the samples, I consider this body usable to 25,600. Shadows appear quite a lot cleaner with push processing. It may well be a better performance than the D600.

Shadows don't have to show details. That is why they are shadows.
I guess my monitor is bad also.
Well I can turn midtones into shadows quite easily too if I chose to go for that look. It's an old trick to get richer colours, but it's not needed these days.
Ugh. I want to like this camera. But 1/4000, SD card, single function top button and no rear joystick irks me.
Lack of outer x-type AF points means less eos fun.

It's not for everyone this camera. But if you are on a tight budget I believe these are things that are easy to overcome for most enthusiast photographers. If you need better you'll have to pull the trigger and go for a 5D mk III and pay more for your EOSfun.

I just noticed this. I don't see WB or flash exposure comp, does that mean its only accessible in the menu? I'm not sure if this matters for me or not. I don't necessarily need those on the fly as much as i would the other options on the buttons.
looks like the 6d may not be so doa like some gear nuts may have thought. I'm not surprised ISO performance is good, that is one thing canon has over sonikon, if dr is improved over the 5diii that would be something to talk about and a sign of good things coming down the pipeline for canon.
Bottom line is, it is probably a great camera for anyone wanting a FF DSLR at a reasonable price. If you want something better, go buy something more expensive.
Er... isn't it much, MUCH too early to make that call? I won't believe that they've overcome their sensor issues until I see it with my own eyes, but I'm not ready to make the call in the other direction either. Too little info to really know for sure yet.

So, the 6D will have ZERO sensor quality advantage over the 5D3?
That's not what he was suggesting; he wasn't talking about the sensor, but about other features:

The 1DX and to a slightly lesser extent the 5DM3 are already near the maximum efficiency that any sensor design has been able to achieve (including Sony/Nikon) for High ISO performance, so there isn't much room for improvement with current bayer designs. For Low ISO there is obviously room for improvement on the Canon side but if seven years of Canon sensors is our guide there isn't likely to be much changed there.

Probably same way as the 60d. Point is I change my settings on the fly under changing situations. Unable to do so = missed shots or not getting the image look I envision. Taking eyes out of the viewfinder to access menu = instant fail.
I don't care how good the bloody sensor is if the image is not captured. That is why I dislike using the current crop of Nikons. They seem to be designed for baby octopus.
