Late-2008 15" MBP is unbearably heavy for travelling. It makes my backpack double in weight. It's starting to show it's age as well. Pretty beat up. Need a full-time travel notebook for mainly everyday computer, and of course, photo-editing.
Not a heavy pro user.
Space not a problem as I dump my data onto a couple external portable hard drives.
Shoot RAW with Canon EOS 5D Mark II.
Workflow is with Canon's DPP and Adobe PS CS5 running.
Work with one file at a time on CS5 and builds to 6-8 layers.
Probably have a couple files open on DPP.
Thinking of 13" Macbook Air (2012 with 8GB RAM) + Thunderbolt/FW800 adaptor. Might throw in a 30GB or 60GB SSD for scratch disk if the 8GB RAM isn't enough.
Will this setup work for my needs?
On the go full-time because of work, and just plain wanting to explore.
