p.1 #1 · Hard Drive Troubles - need help!

I have a Seagate GoFlex 3TB with the USB3 module attached. Formatted OSX Journaled. When I plug it into my mac running 10.8 Mountain Lion I get an error message saying it cant be repaired/verified and It is only going to run in READ mode. All of the data is there, but I cant write to the drive. My attempts to repair the drive fail in Disk Utility - its under warranty but I dont know if this is just a file system error which is not actually a damaged drive r if its a defective drive. Any Ideas or Opinion on how to proceed with a claim if I need to?

BTW - all of my data is backed up, so I am not worried about losing files.

If you can reformat and then read & write, then I would surmise it's a file system error. If it is still inoperable following a reformat, you should have a discussion with the folks at Seagate.

I have 2 of the 3TB, but on USB 2 on my vintage iMac 2007 running SL.... I had some issues with making large copies and Time Machine until I removed ALL of Seagate's software.

Hoping to upgrade before too long.

Thats what I am figuring...

I flattened the drives from the beginning and completely reformatted them.
