The shots look great Ron, that part seems to be functioning quite well. The exif reports 700 so the camera has it figured out. That said it is somewhat disturbing that you the 0.0. It seems that Canon didn't fix all the way I don't want to rain on your parade but I'm not sure I would trust the tc
Tim
Thanx Tim. I don't trust the tc.I need to try it on my 7D with the 500 to see if it might be the new to me 1D4.

IQ looks good on these Ron... did you have any images that were OOF? If so, you may need more testing or return TC to Canon.
Mr. and Mrs. both look good, and so does the Gull... such pretty light on the Mrs.
Kirk
Thanx Kirk. Yes, there were some oof shots. I'm pretty sure I'll have to send it back for other issues though.

These look great Ron. I’d try cleaning the contracts on the TC, lens and body as it sounds like something is not making.
There is always the Canon 1.4x TC III and this wonderful third party converter:
I have the Nikon version and it’s more compatible than any of the Nikon TCs and IQ excellent.
Morris
Thanx Morris. I will clean all he contacts. I'm happy with the IQ of this one, and it focuses fast too, so if I can get this one to behave, I'll keep it.

Congrats on your MkIV
Socrate
Thanx Socrate. I didn't really want to spend the $$, but I am still leery of a full frame camera's reach, and the price on the MK4 seemed right.

Images look good buddy!
Any chance you need another or a more current update to firmware in the 7D?
I have had great results with my old 500 in my old MKIII with my old 1.4TC VII
Take care and just keep shooting and glad to hear you got out to enjoy!
Karl
Sorry to confuse you Karl - it's easier than I thought... But I picked up a MK4 and was using that. The tc seems to work well on the 7D, so now I am wondering if it's the MK4 with the "problem".
If you are still having problems with the TC Ron I will be happy to do more testing for you . These are great photos, to me, seems like there is no degradation in IQ.

Thanx. I am happy with the IQ of these shots, but the operation may be a little flakey. I'm not sure if it's the tc or the body, but the tc seems to work well on my 7D in a limited test drive.

So are you referring to your reflection in a mirror, or my shots Conrad? If it's the latter - thanx.
