Still have mine and use it occasionally. It's slow but it still produces great images. I bought one of the old "Digital Camera Batteries" for it way back when and it always worked like a charm. I got the 60 watt model and could shoot all day with it.
I just saw a D1X on Keh's for dirt cheap.
It was a great camera and could become a collectors item.
I used a small acid battery to lengthen my D1 shooting time.
It had over one million activations on it without service when I upgraded to a D2h.

Got any more info about this battery? Was it an external battery pack? Do you remember where you got it?
The D1X viewfinder is way too small, now that I'm used to the D7000. As for power, get a nice new battery at Ebay like Delkin. The actuations, I don't think it can be viewed via sorftware i.e. Exif viewer...

Thanks for commenting.
I'm not sure if they are still around. I bought it directly from them. They are listed on ebay as DCBUSA.COM but they don't list any cables. Battery Barn has a GREAT battery that runs about $35-40.00. I've used them for years.
I always liked the images from my D1x. I still have it but never use it because much of my photography is in dim light. The Battery Barn batteries worked the best for me. I also have the AC adapter which I used occasionally for studio shoots. The round multi selector on the back fell off (a common occurrence I have been told) but has carefully been reattached with an "X" of duct tape which has worked perfectly.
I'd be happy to consider selling it since it's just sitting in a bag. I get it out occasionally to see if its still alive.
I have a d1 battery and charger sitting on my shelf here that I'd be happy to send to anyone who wants it for the price of postage (note that I live in The Cayman Is.)
I still have one and use it several times a year for outdoor portraits with natural light. It's still my favorite digital camera for outdoor portrait work. I love using the 85 f1.4 lens on this body. There is a certain feel to the files (I shoot RAW only) that is almost film-like.
Dennis, you can still get ViewNX2 for free, and it'll do those 10MP files. +2 on the Battery Barn batteries, do the three refreshes when you first get them, and then once a month afterwards. I also have one of the EH-4's to run the D1h/D1x from.
We have one body here that sees weekly usage and really enjoy the images it produces in studio. The wife uses it for the kids baseball shots in the Summer also. I have on occasion used the T5DR system with it...
I've been using the aftermarket batteries sold by www.batterybarn.com and have been quite pleased with them. I've toyed with the Li-ion conversion of an old battery pack but haven't gotten up the nerve to do so (perhaps we'll try over the upcoming Christmas holiday). I use Nikon Capture NX2 for my RAW processing with the D1X (I like the results better than any other software I've tried). I believe the Adobe products will let you use the 10 MP interpolation as well.
I see that you're from Georgia. What locale? We lived in the suburbs of Atlanta (Snellville) for 20 years before moving to Colorado in 2010.
Good luck with the D1X. Even though it is old technology, I still really like it for certain uses.
Ahhh, on the sidelines with a D1x with a DCB clipped to my waist. That takes me back.
Loved that camera, except the godawful battery life.
I'll tell you, though, the jump to the D2x was massive (and not just because I went from FIVE Nikon batteries + a DCB pack to 1 Nikon battery). I never regretted that upgrade. Quadruple the technological leap as from D3 to D4.
