Hint from a science teacher on how to quickly extinguish a hair fire on your own head: if you don't have some sort of fire blanket or article of non- flammable clothing to smother the flames then take your hands and press them flat onto your forehead and quickly move them back along your head pressing down as if you we're trying to get excess water off your hair after a shower. I haven't had to use this method but spoke with someone who had and they said it worked. Of course your hands might get singed and long hair might be more of a problem! But the motion of your hands should smother the flames quickly.
