I owned the 85 1.8 a couple years ago. Never did really like it. CA was terrible.

^ Purple fringing, same as Canon's 85 f/1.8.

35g going back for an exchange - if that doesn't work, then I will have to think of something else...

If it was a couple years ago, then you're talking about a very different lens, the D version. The new G version is spectacular. Anyone want to buy a great Sigma 85? The 1.8G is good enough, and I've decided to go as light-weight as possible.

85 1.8g is very good except for the really bad purple fringing. Handles everything else very well...but I don't like the bokeh.
