It doesn't have a 154.5mm filter thread, but a drop in filter at the back. Just like all the supertele lenses.

It does have a 154.5 mm filter, look closely at the picture and you can see the filter and the size marked right on it.

I don't see a filter nor a thread for it on the lens.
Edit:
see it in the first picture.... but that's just for protection and strictly not a filter, it doesn't filter, does it?.

It does have a 154.5 front filter thread. Trust me, i own the 600/4 APO HS. The front filter thread is for the dedicated protective filter, which is a hefty piece of glass.
There is also a rear 42mm filter holder.

I have the lens...the front filter is for protection of the lens glass which has extremely fragile coating.
