I just received a new Wimberley replacement foot for my Canon 600II. It has a raised boss on one end that is supposed to go into a recess in the lens where the foot connects. When I removed the existing foot from the lens, the recess is filled with some metal plate like things. Does anyone know if this can be removed, or do I have the wrong replacement foot?
Thanks for looking and best wishes.
Chrisdee; thank you, I did not think to look there. It appears B&H sent me the foot for a Nikon lens instead of Canon. I will contact them in the morning.
Thanks you for your help.
just curious, why not the kirk or really right stuff? It appears the wimberley might be too close to the lens for it to be used as handle...Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.
I use the AP-602 because it allows proper balancing of camera and 600/4 on a wimberely sidekick. For those who use a full gimbal most of the time, this probably isn't a benefit and the fact that you can't use the AP-602 as a good handle could be seen as a negative when compared to other replacement feet.
Wimberely also claim that it is the "stiffest" replacement foot on the market and that it helps obtain sharper images. Not sure about that.
Thang: I do not have a lot of experience with gimbals and long lenses, but I will share my thoughts.
I chose the Wimberley first because it was recommended by B&H to me, also becauce it is a name I know well. I did not choose RR stuff because I think it is a bit overpriced. Obviously it is good stuff, but just more than I want to pay for the same thing. The Wimberley is every bit as good as anything out there.
Now, that being said, I also wanted the lense as close to the center of gravity as possible and the Wimberley does that. It it does not allow a very good handle, I will see what else is out there and send it back to B&H. I did not think to look at what Kirk had to offer.
Mitesh; the AP 602 is what I have coming thanks for sharing.
