p.1 #1 · Gear Selection for Jordan

I am off to Jordan in December, including Petra during the full moon. During different parts of the trip my photographic emphasis will be changing, but will inclued Landscape, People with emphasis on culture, and wildlife.

I can tell you that I am a "Zoom" shooter. This developed from being too many places where I could not backup or move closer, shooting Climbing, Mountaineering, Fire Fighting and the Military.

I will be carrying an F-Stop Loka with:
5D MkII and 7D
17-40 f4 and 24-105 f4
70-200 f2.8 II, x1.4 III and x2.0 II or 100-400
50 f1.4
There is also the possiblity of picking up either a 28 f1.8 or 85 f1.8 for portrait/indoor.

We will have a Tour Guid/Driver most days, so weight is not a huge concern (after the flight). Mostly I am looking at recommendations for versatility and quality.

Thanks,
Anthony

You've already identified the main question:

I took the 70-200L II + Extenders for a one month trip to Utah this past summer. Main reason, 70-200mm performance in low light, especially for social situations. Worked great for that, as you know it would. It also worked fine for wildlife, too. Maybe not as well as the 100-400L would have, but I didn't have it there to check. I posted example shots from Utah with the 70-2--/2.8L IS II + 2x III in earlier threads. You can probably find them by searching for III.

Anyway - enjoy the trip.
