p.1 #1 · Gears for beauty pageant?

What kind of gears do I need for a beauty pageant? I am thinking my D800E and the 70-200 VR2, but I am not confident in this combo as of late. Maybe the D4 + 70-200 VR2? Should I bright a shorter focal lens? If so, which? What about flash? Do I need diffuser?
I think I will be around the catwalk area, but I may be able to move around as well.
This is just for a charity, but I want to do my best.

TIA

Why aren't you confident with the D800 and 70-200? It can easily handle a beauty pageant.

no reason d800 would not be enough ... 70-200 might be too long depending on the distances involved.
Bring the flash in case you needed but unless there is a way to bounce it - try to avoid using it .

In your shoes I'd take D800 + 28/1.8 and D4 + 70-200. Honestly I'd go with the two bodies and just three primes 28/85/180 but I understand that most people prefer the convenience of 70-200.

Thank you everyone for your input. I wasn't sure if I wanted to bring 2 bodies, but it look like I should.
Not confident in the D800e + 70-200 combo b/c it has been hit and miss for some reason. I would get really nice shots at f2.8 and then I would get mis-focused shots at f9 even. This was in the day time too. So I am kind of worried that I would not do will in a low light situation. I guess I will do what Mishu01 suggested, along with a 50mm f1.8.
There will be other photographer so there's no pressure on me. It will be a great learning experience.

Thanks again everyone,
-Quang

I'd use a helical gear and a worm drive, separate of course.

Tripod. If not, a monopod. The event will likely be long and your arms will fall off.

I'm might bring a flash and usage will depend on what happens when I get there.
Sometimes it will just stay in the bag simply because it may feel too intrusive.

I'd be experimenting with it first though.

And I'd be taking two bodies. A prime or wide angle on one and a 70-200 on the other... which is pretty much what others have stated also.
