I know that few if any would use the in-camera RAW processing however, if for an odd reason I was out of town without the use of my laptop and I wanted to process a RAW file has anybody used this feature? I was just doing another quick scan of a book on the 5D MkIII and was reading about this feature. Never used it myself but wondered if it would be any better than a jpeg exposure..And I do have more time on my hands these days so I'm exploring the features.
You cannot do all raw editing that you should be able to. For example, you should be able to also adjust exposure and NR settings, but you cannot. However, it is still raw, and shooting raw still results in better results than just shooting JPG.

Thanks for the reply TeamSpeed! I use the DPP for the RAW work mostly. I was just brushing thru this book on the 5D MkIII and read the page on this and wondered if it would be of any benefit. In my amateur workflow I process any RAW file in DPP and convert it to jpeg and any final touches I use Elements 9. I'm thinking that even my very basic workflow will undergo several changes the more I understand the camera benefits and features. At present I'm feeling my way thru all the 5D MkIII menu's and features and finding anything that will be of any benefit. There are a few features that I may never use. I've got a long way to go.
I tried it on my 7D but it was so complicated to use and yet so lacking in the subtle features I need RAW for and with such a small LCD to work on I gave up
