Hey everyone.
I am new to photography and it is my passion. So far I was using T2i. Over last year I bought couple of L series lenses 70-200 IS II 2.8, 24-70 2.8 and I have two sigmas - 1.4 30 and 50mm,
Now I am ready for next step - full frame. My options are 5D Mark II -(I have funds for)
or 5D M III - I don't have enough $$$ yet.
My question is - would you advise me to wait month or two and save for M III or buy now MII for $1250.00 (almost new)?
Or buy this used one, sell it later and buy M III?
The main difference between Mk2 and Mk3 is the autofocus
- there isn't much difference in image quality
For static subjects (landscapes, static portraits) etc the AF of the Mk2 is up to the job, especially if you stick to the centre point and focus/recompose
For sports/moving subjects/birds in flight you may be better off with the Mk3
There's a big price difference - unless you have cash to burn my choice would be the the Mk2 unless you NEED the improved AF.
If you can wait a bit, I'd wait until the 6D is out in early December. The people who have had some hands on time with it seem impressed with the focusing system (as compared to the 5D Mk2). This would give you 3 cameras to pick from, and may drive the price of a used 5D Mk2 down further.
Thank you very much. I don't have much cash left after 70-200 2.8 IS II.
My friend lend me that lens and right from the beginning I knew, I have to have one.
Now I will get 5D MkII.

Personally I'd wait and get the 5D3 .
Of course your zooms will be fine on the FF but the primes 30/1.4 won't work . You may want to change it for a 85/1.8 . Your 50 will seem like the old 30 was on the crop so an 85 will seem like the 50 did

I would encourage waiting for the 5DIII. You will not be left wanting for many years to come. You can get by for a long time with your 50, 24-70, 70-200 lenses and that camera. Plus it's under $3K now.

Unless you give us an idea of what you shoot, what you want to gain in an upgrade and what your future purchases will be it's difficult to really give you a decent opinion. Of course with the current pricing though a 5D2 would be a pretty safe bet for better IQ, high ISO and low light focusing if you're ok with its AF system. Then again if all you need is a few months to make up the difference to get a 5D3 it may be well worth the wait. Keep in mind there have been some excellent deals on a 5D3 lately and maybe even better between the post-thanksgiving and pre-christmas timeframe.

I am shooting a lot of low light (static) objects. Faces, parish retreats but also I would like to take camera to take a pictures of my son skiing this season.
I can wait few months I guess.

Thanks a lot
If you can wait, I'd suggest looking at the new 6D as well, it's center point's sensitivity is claimed to be -3ev, the 5D2/3 is -2ev, if you're shooting in low light this might help...we'll all have to wait for reviews to see how it's AF really works.

sounds like a plan, unless you get a good price on the 5D2 wait and see what the new 6D brings
