So I borrowed a friends 24-70 2.8 lens to test my D800 that I have for sale to see if it has the left focus issue. I am not an expert on this and this was a crude test shot with a tripod and timer on a printed test sheet i down loaded.
What would you say about focus issue? Do they exist or not based on samples below. The focus point is the middle of the test chart. The focus point was moved on each shot to align on the center of the chart.
Hey Jorge, I think you need a 1.4 prime lens in order to test the focus of d800. Just use any 1.4 prime lens, wide open, and use the left focus points to focus on a subject at least 2 meters away. If still accurate, then I will say it is fine. If or, you can send the camera to nikon for repair.
You guys are ALL off the mark. Jorge was testing the D800 for "Docus" not "Focus" and in that regard, I think he absolutely nailed it! I mean, after all, who has a nearly lifesize poster of the 3 Stooges?
All kidding aside, looked pretty good to me even if it was a "crude" focus test.
