These photos are from a one-day road trip from Arizona to New Mexico, and return, back in September 2011. These were taken, as I recall, on Highway 78, I *think* on the Arizona side, but I'm not certain. It was a lovely drive.
C&C always welcome. I was using a tripod, but forgot to turn off image stabilization, so they were not as sharp as they could have been. Let me know if I overcompensated in PP.
Mike, this was one of those instances where I happened to glance in the rearview mirror at the right time, otherwise I would have driven right by this scene without ever knowing it was there.
Tim, I was unsure about #1 so I really appreciate that you like it! I see you're in Tucson. We're neighbors!
Nice work Bev. I like 1 and 2 but the upper left hand corner might be a bit distracting as it pulls the eye to that highlight area instead of where your composition may have intended.

Thanks. That's a good point! I left it as is because it shows a bit of rain or virga, identifying the dark sky as an active rain cloud rather than just a dark sky.
I just love this little scene with the fence and the odd little shack. These are the types of scenes I look for, and you did a great job of seeing it and stopping and catching these. I especially love #2, just enchanting. These non-iconic special little scenes are what its all about for me, and I'd love to have this shot in my galleries.
Much is made about "icons", but personally I just drove by Monument Valley, and also spent a couple days in Moab without going to Arches (no clouds, too many people). However, I did spend several days back in the San Rafael Swell, and a night in Valley of the Gods ... but I didn't find any delightful odd little shacks like this.
Bev- I really like the first two images.
Broken down further: I like the crop of the first and the color of the second.
Why not crop #2 and see what it looks like to you?
Charlie
I like both - the color version is kind of spooky - it brings out the sunny grass contrsting against the brooding sky. #3 is interesting as well. It looks like a fist to me.

Jim, Ute, Charlie, and Phil.... Thank you!
Charlie, here is the first image in a color version.
Bev- Thanks for the additional version- I like it.
Truth is all of these look good to me, and there are multitudinous variations of crop, color/B&W that I think will work quite well.
The color is a bit unusual- and that's part of the intrigue to me.
