When looking through my viewfinder it looks Hazy.. or MILKY.. are the only two words to describe it. I tried the diopter and that wasn't it.. but it's just cloudy.. It's not like my 5D or 1DIII or any other Canon Camera I have ever used.
Is this normal? Is this the NEW Intelligent Viewfinder and how it will look?
Is this typically in bright sunlight? I think the viewfinder is similar to the 7D which does do this in bright light. This comes with the new intelligent viewfinder.
A translucent LCD overlay is used in between the focusing screen and pentaprism and accounts for a small loss in clarity and extra diffusion. It was tested on the 7D and the market was very accepting of the wee clarity loss in exchange for extra red flashes, invisible AF points, grids, bubble level, etc. Of course, if it's worse than normal it may be suffering from outgassing or chemical film from shooting in funky air.
It happened to me the other week at a well lit Vball game but I just wiped it with my shirt and it was fine then I had gotten it back from Canon so I wonder if they may have smudged it.
