Subject says it all, really. I could do with a hood for the afore mentioned lens, but the EW-83CII is hard to come by these days (the official hood).
Does anybody know if the related EW-83E or similar could do the job?
You can't find a replacement from HK or China on eBay? One of my favorite brands is "uWinka", but there are plenty of others at reasonable prices. I'm sure someone makes a replacement for your lens.
Yep, the 17-35mm f/2.8 L. Long discontinued, but still a damn good UW. If I could be sure that the hoods designed for either the 16-35L II or the 17-40L would work well, I'd grab one for sure.

Thanks for the brand suggestion. I've bought cheap third-party hoods before and been disappointed, but perhaps the uWinka hoods are worth a go.

and decide if you want to buy a substitute hood. Ex. try the 16-35 L pattern and see if it vignettes on your lens. If it does not, then you might like to buy the EW-83E hood (officially for the 16-35 L) and see if it vignettes on the old lens
Note: I think the recommended 83C is different from the 83C II.
You may be interested in a lens not made by Canon or maybe a current Canon lens..
