-Add a jpgXR option for the other modes that don't output RAW.
-Manually add lens profiles for color shift & store them on the SD card.
-I would also like to see a low power remote mode that powers down the LCD after the first shot, as it is it's always on.
-?
Come on Sony, you can do it!

I don't know why everyone is surprised by Sony offering a firmware update. I'm sure many of us remember the fantastic update that gave our NEX systems focus peaking. Thanks again, Sony!

Wow, who would shoot a bracket on a tripod without remote or time delay? This is a big oversight. I don't know if this mod has been posted here before, but I'm considering it.

If someone quickly could test the WA color shift with this new 1.01 firmware upgrade, I wouldn't be in such a rush to try the UK english version.

Not that there is anything wrong with the UK version, but I sense that if any 1.01 firmware is installed, the camera will not allow a reinstall of another 1.01 firmware update.

Besides destroying the resale value of your NEX-7 is there any advantage to this mod over buying a $5. wireless remote?

I can just hear the fora uproar if the US gets more stuff in their FW.
I just took a shot with my CV15, no change that I can see, I believe it's just with lenses that can communicate with the body(the body would need a profile to do corrections), and of those I'm willing to bet only the Sony lenses.

As I posted above, you can only pick 1 drive mode at a time, wireless remote or bracketing or....
The mod uses the same circuit as the shutter release, so it lets you use bracketing and a wired remote at the same time.
So yeah it could be useful if you really need that function, or you could just get a different camera for that function, or Sony could separate the conflicting drive modes.

EDIT: looks like Euro & USA/North America FW's are the same.

LA-EA2 adapter users note - apparently the firmware installation will cause your AF micro-adjust settings to be lost. Make note of them before upgrading.

My observation as well... ZM25 still shows magenta edges.

We've never had this in any Sony camera afaik. Sony have been decent at picking up complaints/requested features with firmware updates etc but I this one just isn't mentioned often enough. Which is a shame, as it would be very useful.

just go shutter priority with auto iso? that's what I do when I hand the cam to someone else.

OK. I downloaded the file, charged up my battery, printed out the directions and am ready to update firmware.
Before I jump into this, has anybody done it yet and if so are there any traps or pitfalls?

Just follow the directions to the letter and you should be fine.
Do change the USB mode to Mass Storage, Auto will not work.

I updated, no problems. I did a quick before/after with the 16/2.8 to see if there's any change in magenta cast. . . there is, but it's not a complete fix.

AWB, +2EV, Lens Compensation 'on', RAW (jpg looked the same in each case).

Yeah, that works great with non-native lenses. WIth native lenses, autoISO isn't great.

FYI:I have checked my NEX7 with the new firmware and the most fussy lens I got - G Biogon 28/2.8.No significant difference found.Magenta cast is still there,maybe slightly less.The lens needs to be stopped down to f5.6 to get acceptably sharp corners as it was before.
