p.1 #1 · Solution for Vignetting with Nikon 24-85 and CPL?

I took my Nikon 24-85 mm and D600 out for some test shots the other day. One thing that I noticed was a pretty decent amount of vignetting from 24-35 mm.

My current set up involves a Heliopan 72 to 77 mm step up ring and a B&W 77 mm Kaesemann CPL.

Does anyone have some suggestions as to how I can get eliminate this issue while keeping my filters at 77 mm? The reason I would like to keep my filter collection at 77 mm is so that if I upgrade to the pro quality Nikon lenses, I have a compatible set of filters.

One thought I had was to get the B&W XS Pro Kaesemann CPL. I've heard it's made to work well with wide angle lenses. Anyone have any experience with this filter?

a slim CPL should do the trick and keep the vignetting down. I used the Nikon one that worked well.

This. I've used a Nikon 77mm CPL, with a 72-77 step-up ring on my 24-85VR, with no vignetting issues on my D700.

David & QWK SVT, thanks for the responses.

While on this topic I'm wondering if anyone can comment about whether or not I will run into comparable vignetting issues with ND filters down the line if I stick with the use of a 72-77 mm step up ring?

I did some quick searches and it looks like there is a limited selection of "slim" ND filters, which would put me in a similar predicament as I am in now.

In a worst case scenario I guess I could buy 72MM filters and step up my longer lenses to 72 mm vs. 77 mm to eliminate the issue altogether. Thoughts?
