They're using RED and Canon (I see one 5D Mark II or III with a 15mm, there's a glimpse of the 10-22 also) cameras for this event, here's the live link

Does anyone know what sort of cameras he has on him when he jumps? Probably video oriented for obvious reasons. I wonder if they have any high res stills capability up there
p.1 #4 · Red Bull Startos 120,000 ft world record skydive *Live*
Several internet articles list RED Cine 4K movie cameras, Canon 5D Mark III's, the second video shows the 5D3 with a 15mm, there's another camera with an ef-s 10-22 on it; I'd guess a 7D, unless there's a way to mount ef-s lenses on a FF body!? Articles also list the 5D2...

Thanks for the links. What I'd like to know is what sort of lens did they use to get those close in shots of the balloon, from Roswell, when the balloon was 50 miles downrange and 24 miles up? That weren't no 70-200!

You can mod a 10-22 to use on a FF body, you don't get the full range though!

I don't care what he used - that jump was simply incredible.
Yeah but try to imagine what it was like for that military guy that did 100K+ in 1960 ish [sorry forget his name but I believe he was on the crew this time].... Amazing.... Also look at that spin where the world is literally going around and around in front of him.... I was glad it all worked out he did NOT get the record for the largest smear on the ground

I remember seeing the footage from the 1960 jump. Given the technology at the time compared to what we have now 50 years later, it makes that jump even more impressive.
I'm not trying to take anything away from Felix, BTW, as I'm very proud of what he accomplished.

It was an amazing piece of history to witness. Imagine when his visor was fogging/icing... going like a bat-outa-hell and not being able to see.
That spin would have made fogging/icing of the visor a non-issue for me.... I would have been blowing chunks in my helmet.
As for the Colonel, Joe Kittinger, he almost died due to a leak in one of the hands of his suit. They did not have the tech to monitor the pressure as closely.
