Definitely tests better than the 5D3 and considering the 1DC uses the same sensor as the 1DX and has vastly better video than the 5D3 why again did Canon use the old tech 22MP sensor in the 5D3 since can it really be for superior video when the 1DC does that much better using 1DX sensor? and why are they bothering with three different sensors for 6D,5D3 and 1DX instead of just re-using for all and splitting costs? Maybe the 1DX sensor process costs THAT much more (same for D4) Maybe the 1DX sensor costs too much for a 6D and maybe they were too scared to not only not increase MP but to go lower for the 5D3?? If they were not going to go 28-32MP with I almost think I'd rather them have gone with the 1DX sensor instead but anyway they didn't.
Anyway, it's hard to decipher their ISO score since it is a mish-mash of this and that, we need to see the charts, but it is the highest score they have given for high ISO ever, better even than the D4. It seems the 1DX sensor is likely a clear improvement over the 5D3 to get that high ISO score it seems that it must be getting better high ISO SNR than the 5D3 while also using a less-color blind filter so the actual sensor's SNR is likely even better compared to the 5D3 which gets some of it's high ISO improvement by using a more color-blind color filter array than Canon had ever used before. Or, if the 1DX also uses the same very color-blind filter, then it must perform also amazingly well to make up for the penality DxO gives for the ISO score for using very color-blind filters. Looking at othe rnumbers it seems most likely that it is less color-blind than the 5D3 and yet even with a thicker color filter still manages to produce slightly better high ISO luminance SNR, most likely, although maybe the higher score also comes from a stop better DR at high ISO than the 5D3 in which case the SNR might be only a tiny bit better (although with less color noise and better color fidelity) and a full stop better DR.
DR comes in roughly a stop better than the 5D3 and stop and a half worse than the D800, the banding it not as bad as the 5D3 at low ISO so the 5D3, real world, does a bit worse than those numbers imply. That gives it one of the better non-Exmor low ISO DR scores, although the D4 is still better, but probably only ht D4 is better in that regard among all the non-Exmor sensors.
Anyway Canon is capable of producing THE state of the art at high iso now. They are still a lot behind for low ISO DR though in general and still a little behind even among non-Exmor sensors in that regard (although not hugely behind the D4 as the 5D3 and other Canon bodies are).
