Horrible lighting, etc. but access to a complete full image test sample of a very complex scene with fine details all over the place at all sorts of depths.

I've never tried a 16-35 II or a Nikon 14-24, so I don't know how those do, but I can't think of any zooms that I have tried that can do that at 24mm (on FF that is, on APS-C I think some others can do that at 24mm and 17mm).

This lens does deliver across the frame. Thanks for sharing.
The light was not horrible for a test like this.
IMO it doesn't help much if a specialized wide angle zooms can do it as well. It is the ability to deliver at the extreme ends of the zoom range that makes a lens like the all rounder 24-70 II good value, and 24 mm on thge wide end is often wide enough.

fantastic detail skibum. 16-35II is not as good all the way to the corners, but almost as good. I will try to post an f11 image at 24.
edit. Here is one similar, f11, 16-35II on the 5d2 as you can see, the extreme corners, remail a bit mushy, but just the very extreme. every where else, its pretty sharp link to full size
