p.1 #1 · Need 2- nd full frame camera Nikon or Canon
This is my 1 post here
Now i am using Nikon D700 + D300s and 14 - 24 , 24 - 70 , 70 - 200 VR 1 and 50 mm 1.4 D + 85 1.4 D. ( Also own2 DX lenses 17 - 55 and 16 - 85 - probably i will sell them )
I am shooting weddings and other partys but also i like a lot landscapes photography
I want to replace my d300 s with a new ful frame camera ...Probably D600. I newer shoot a Canon but i am thinking to try 5dmII. Very importat for me is good focus and good ISO. But i would like to try any canon because i like a lot skin tones from canon cameras...
Does anyone jump from d700 or d 300s to any canon or 5DmII and was very happy with IQ , expecialy skin tones? I want to keep my d700 + all FF lenses... If i go to canon i will buy only with one lens at the moment. Any advice ?

Personally, I would love a 5DII and 35L to go alongside my nikon stuff. People say the focus isn't the best, but I manually focus most of the time anyways, and I could get by on the center point for AF.
It wouldn't really give you a proper backup to the D700, but the D300s could keep filling that role.

For landscape work, I think the D800 and the D600 are superior than the Canon offerings. The higher DR and MPX are both advantages for landscape work. Go with the D800 and sell the D700. The D300s will be a good backup. You will have a great combination.

I want 2 FF cameras. I prefer much more D700 over D300s, I use 2 cameras "at the same time " ,so let say d700 + 85mm and d600 + 50 mm *( d 300s + 50 gives me 75 mm almost the same ). Anyway i will keep my d300s

Why would you want to run two different systems? That seems absurd, unless there's a very specific lens you want to use that is unavailable in your main system.

You already have the "holy trinity" as do I and they really sing on both our D800 and D800E.
I've shot both systems and prefer the Canon T/S lenses for landscapes so I'm now waiting impatiently for Nikon to refresh the line with independent axis rotation like the Canons.
That said, I'd still go with a D800 or D600 - your original post doesn't make shooting with both systems necessary.

Yes i know is not good idea to run 2 systems ... i just would like to try how canon works for me, as i said i like a lot skin tones and colors overall from canon, i dont have a chance to rent it... I like many things at nikons cameras of course and i have all stuff from nikon...sometimes i just think maybe canon will works better for me ?

I believed the hype and sold my D90 to get a 5D2.
I later was very glad to dump it for a D7000.
The 5D2 is great for landscapes if you like to slow focus with center point only
I think it would be fine for Portraits as well but not for motion shots at weddings where you have to count on getting every shot at the precise moment.
A 5D3, D700, D3, or D3s would be much better and
better yet would be a D4, D600, or D800 in that order.

Why would someone who loves cars and driving want two different cars?
They are just tools. Many in the bag.
Yes, they're just tools -- but they're tools that are one piece in an integrated system of lenses and accessories. Sure, it would be great to have one of each -- but particularly for someone in a demanding shooting environment where backups and redundancy are vital, buying two mutually exclusive full frame bodies seems like a big waste, unless cost is not an issue.

Maybe i will try Nikon D600 + grip ( D800 i wish but 36 MP + i will have to upgrade my PC + many bad copys with AF problems) It looks like no one recommend 5dmII.

5d2 is known for its bad AF capabilities. Seriously, if you are serious about this canon idea (which I find nonsense) then you should get a 5d3. Even then, you still get limited DR and dark region banding compared to the thousand and a bit dollars cheaper D600...
Not to even mention it is the body only that is 1500$+ over the cost of the d600. After that, you have to buy lenses, as in plural.
Wth all that money you can buy yourself two d600 and a new computer.
Most important, with the extra money, you can buy photoshop and lightroom and be done with the skin tone thing.
Really, it's your money and you do with it whatever you want, but it doesn't make snese though...

there is nothing like canon skin tones. if you mean that carrot-like skin tones, it is just white balance issue, easy to duplicate on nikon (no idea why would anybody want to)
