p.1 #1 · Need a P&S with "SLR" IQ | Coming from a D7000

I currently have a D7000 and a kit of lenses but don't really use it that much and plan on getting a D600 next year I think, when I can afford it. I'm considering selling my D7000 and lenses to opt for a P&S with SLR like image quality. The Canon G1X caught my eye, but it lacks in the macro department which I would need for my eBay store. I would preferably like something that is under $1000, but I haven't ruled out micro 4/3 yet. Anyone got any suggestions? I'm looking for something that has a moderate zoom, good low light capability, and an awesome fast lens.

No zoom but IQ can't be beat at this size/price. Sony NEX5N w/ Sigma 30. Will be around 500 used.

I am looking at the Fujifilm X100 as the "ultimate" point and shoot; 12mp, Good, maybe great lens, manual exposure control when necessary, optical finder for bright light, video finder for low light/extreme close up. At $1200US, it's at the upper end of your range, but every other choice has more things wrong with it.

Fuji X10 or Leica D-Lux 5 come to my mind. I opted for the Fuji X10 The Panasonix LX5 is great budget option

RX100 is close, but like the G1X, it lacks the macro the OP stated. I used a carryspeed adapter on the RX100 with a 250D diopter (4x), so far I am happy with the result.

You may consider a Panasonic GF-3 or Sony NEX kit, get an adapter and a cheap used MF macro lens like 55 3.5/2.8. Sony NEX sensors are definitely DSLR quality.

I prefer the output of the RX-100 to the mFT bodies that sported the older sensors. I previously owned the GH1 and GF2. You will need a diopter for close focus. I'm continually amazed by the output from this tiny camera.

Though it's not really the point of your thread, I'm wondering why you'd think about a D600 if you're not really using your existing body and lenses, and prefer a high-end P&S or MILC. Seems like, if you're not using your current kit and thinking about downsizing, then spending more money on gear which is going to be bigger, heavier, and more expensive is probably not that great an idea.

Just a thought.
