It depends on the context of course, the OP mentioned lots of BIF and sports and I took one particular context in there.
But the point is: Is it really that hard to miss focus given the correct AF settings on a 7D? It is very likely slower, but is it less accurate than the 5D3?

In one shot mode, all of the canon cameras I've owned have performed fine in non-moving targets.

My keeper rate with servo AF shooting and with shallow DOF single-shot situations has been noticeably better with the 5D3 than with any of my former Canon SLRs (which includes two 7Ds). IMO the 7D is a solid camera, very capable and an excellent value...but it does not AF quite as reliably in difficult scenarios as the 5D3 in my experience.
