I had the D600 and returned it. In hindsight, I should have kept it.
The camera ergonomics were off from the D700/D800 that I had got accustomed to.
Lack of AF-On button
incorrectly placed +- buttons (to me)
Grip though appearing beefy, has a really short area for the tips of the fingers. Causing the finger tips to press heavily against the inner part of the camera body.
Returned it, but found my next 2 D800s to have 1 issue or another. The D600 from a functional perspective was perfect.. no issues. AF was accurate, IQ excellent.
This camera caused me to switch from Pentax to Nikon. I had never shot an image with a Nikon camera before this one arrived two weeks ago. I've taken it on a few photoshoots now and so far i'm very happy.
The biggest draw back to the camera is the narrow field of the auto-focus points. Other than that though the AF is superb. IQ looks fantastic, though i'm anxiously awaiting acr support so that i can use my color checker and get my workflow back on track.
I'm still adjusting to the backward (from a pentax perspective) direction of the lens removal rotation and the location of the lens unlock button. I have fairly large hands and was not happy about the smallness of this camera but with the battery grip it feels very nice. (yes, it's quite a bit larger than the Pentax K5 but still not quite large enough to rest my littlest finger on the body)

I'm having one tomorrow, i was between D800 and D600 and decided on D600, I currently have D700, i wonder which one would be back up camera 700 or 600
There's NO doubt that the D700 is a GREAT camera, but wait until you work with the D600's files.

Have there been any reports on the D600 of issues like the back focus issue on the D7000 or the left focus issue on the D800?
Thanks

i tried to follow all reports, as far as i know no issues about focus but i remember reading the tint issue in the LCD
will i feel better, is it what you mean? or you mean something about the file size?
I mean once you've worked with the D600 files, it will become clear that the D700 will back up the D600. BUT...YMMV.
