Holy Moly I was shocked when I saw this today. I was playing with the 1DX and shot this with my 24-70 MKII @ f/22 I have never seen so much crap before. I have also had an annoying little spot in the viewfinder. I will take this out tomorrow and shoot the whole sky to see if the whole sensor looks like this mess.

Yeap, you've got sensor caca. You need to use the liquid and the swabs to clean the sensor, and remember to turn your camera off when changing lenses.

I'll take a blower to it first but have never seen dust like this before on any of my bodies. I had a 5D once and that sensor was never as dirty as this one.

I've been told only the 5Dc does that....must be those UFOs that show up at f/22...can't be dust spots, not on a 1Dx

How did you get this much dust in it in the first place?

Gust I'm wondering about grease/oil. I remember after sending the MKIII in after one of it's fixes it came back with something like this. Got the camera in July and no way I did this, I rarely change lenses outdoors.

I like the lens but still need to use it more.

This is total Bullshit, sorry for the language but when you spend the amount of money for a camera like the 1DX it should not have this problem. I took a blower to it and this crap never even moved off the left upper side of the sensor. It's fine for now since I don't normally shoot at f/22 but it will have to in for a cleaning after fall sports are over and I think it should be on Canon's dime, went through crap with the MKIII............just pisses me off!!!!!

Oh I just emailed them about this. I didn't buy this to send it in to be cleaned though and if it were just dust then I would just clean it myself but this isn't dust. I wonder if anyone else has these issues.

An unfortunate but easily fixed problem. Sh!t happens. It has NOTHING to do with how much money you spend on it. Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, Rose Royce, Telsa, etc have ALL had a recall of some sort for their newly sold EXPENSIVE vehicles. Send the thing in and get it cleaned. It's as easy as you make it.

Be careful. I wet clenaed my 1ds-mk3 and broke the sensor, cost my insurance $2300 to replace it.

The dust shaker cameras have a gap between the top filter and the sensor. It is very thin and being larger than a crop, also more fragile in the unsupported center. The sensor on 1-series is hermetically sealed so Canon will only replace the entire assembly. Some 3rd party guys will replace just the filter I later learned.

Also know that I have never seen a sensor that was 100% clean at f22, even straight out of the box or after a Canon cleaning.

I have mine cleaned by Canon about once a year (I am a CPS member). I try to stay around f8 where I only see 3-4 spots. At f22, it tends to look like yours even after blowing it out.

By the way, the dark blue spots are dust, probably on the outside. The lighter speckles is noise. You should do your test at ISO100.

CPS thinks is dust so will just send in. Never had dust problems like this on my MKIV, MKIII or even the 5D and would not normally care about dust on the sensor. Maybe it's no biggy and I'm freaking about nothing, thanks everybody

Thanks Ben but the ones on top were at 100 ISO

Man, it's just dust that be easily cleaned by yourself or if don't trust yourself, by Canon. Relax.
