Wiseman's Ferry is a little town along the Hawkesbury river about 90 km north of Sydney named after it's founder Solomon Wiseman.
They have never built a bridge over the Hawkesbury river in those parts so instead they have two ferries that run at either end of the town. The Wiseman's Ferry and the Webb's Creek Ferry at the other end.
The service is available for free 24/7 all year round with two drivers on board all the time. This works out cheaper than building then maintaining a bridge let alone two. Though the two ferries are less than a couple of minutes drive apart in the township they are a good hour's drive apart from the other side of the river.
The main ferry itself has been running there since 1829.
The scenery in what seems to be an almost forgotten part of the world is truly amazing.
I took this around 5.30am as a passenger on the Webb's Creek Ferry.
that's one moody image!!
And I like it.
However I think the large black/near black lower right is a bit too heavy, distracting, at least on a less refined monitor where no detail can be seen.
