Have to do a shoot tomorrow outside and the nearest electrical outlet is 160 feet from where I need to shoot. What size power cords will I need to get to cover 2 Alien Bees 800s? I was pretty sure that I saw this covered on this forum some time ago but the search didn't bring it up.

From Buff Tech Support website when someone asked if 14ga wire was OK for 300ft run:
"300' with 14ga. will be fine, but you may experience a slighly longer recycle time. Also avoid rapid firing the lights, as that can generate heat in the cords at those lengths."
Paul Buff responded to this personally:
"TS is basically correct. But any heat generated in the cord is distributed along the 300' length so is of no consequence. As for recycle time, the difference would be so small I don't think you would be able to measure it."
mini on the way....but still need cords for tomorrow! Client book at the last minuet and couldn't get the mini in time:-(
Really should have got one months ago....this problem of no outlets was coming sooner or later;-)
