Found a very co-operative grass hopper that let me put it on a piece of paper, my favorite place shoot bugs, snap away.
I was very surprised at how out of focus the rest of the head was because of how protruded the eye was.
So which one do you like more the B&W or the color?
C&C welcome

I prefer the color, though the DOF is very shallow here. Would try to boost that.

Thanks Terrence, I don't focus stack so there isn't really anything I can do about the DOF.

Agree- prefer the colour version. Julian assuming you were at 1:1 you could go to F32
on the nikon equivalent of F16 set on a canon for a bit more DOF without too much diffraction.

I have tried that but because I am using my pop-up flash I can't get enough light.

Try a snoot diffuser? Can't vouch for this design but here is one:

Thanks Birdie.
Terrence I have already made a variation of that, but would like to try using a Pringles (Not sure on the spelling) container.
