I got my first D4 and overall I am really impressed. I did notice the green LCD issue, but when I dumped my card, all looked good on my computer.

Other than that, it seems to have trouble tracking sports coming directly head on.

Alas, I still love it.

Hi Patrick,

Regarding your statement:

"Other than that, it seems to have trouble tracking sports coming directly head on"

What AF settings are you using?

Obviuously Continuous, but are you using single point? 9 Pt? 21pt? 51pt? or 3D?

On AF setting a3-focus tracking with lock on - what setting? off, short nornal long?

On AF setting a1 AF-C priority setting - are you set to release? focus? or focus+release?

If you get these 3 optimized, you should get better results.

For BIF I am using 9 pt, short or none, and focus+ release. Not sure what the ideal for sports is, but I am sure someone can chime in.

Bill,
In all my years shooting Nikon, I've always used: AF-C, 21-point dynamic, and normal or low tracking, AF-ON back button focus and release. I've nailed (but also missed) a lot of fast pasted sports with that setup. The D4 should be nailing subjects coming directly at it, but doesn't.

I was also told Nikon would fix my LCD.
