I think it's best to make your own judgements. Any review of out of focus "onion problems" are subjective. This is like those who complain about color renditions; it's all a matter of what the reviewer likes.

I am just waiting for Canon to issue a new firmware that will automatically lock up its cameras when a Sigma 35 1.4 is attached to it.
No worries for Nikon as they lock up even with Nikkors anyway.
Looking at those comparisons, the Siggy is a clear winner for me... It lags on the vignetting side of things, but on the other direct comparisons it looks better to me.

Having just switched over to Canon I got this instead of a 35L. Thus far I'm very impressed with the images and build quality from it. I like it more than the Nikon 35G I previously used.

Got mine from B&H yesterday. Played around a bit, but no images to show yet. I like vignetting, so that's not a drawback for me. I like what I see so far.

I've used the Sigmalux. Bokeh was very nice but the lens struggled - compared to Canon 50/1.4 - in both focus accuracy in servo mode as well as low-light shooting in one-shot mode, where the Sigma would sometimes hunt and give up while the Canon had no such problem at all. Also, the Canon was noticeably faster to achieve AF lock in one-shot mode compared to Sigmalux when swapping back and forth between the lenses.
