I read the OOF rendering not to be that good,
makes it a deal braker for me...
sharpness is tested though better than Canikon.

I think it's best to make your own judgements. Any review of out of focus "onion problems" are subjective. This is like those who complain about color renditions; it's all a matter of what the reviewer likes.

I am just waiting for Canon to issue a new firmware that will automatically lock up its cameras when a Sigma 35 1.4 is attached to it.
No worries for Nikon as they lock up even with Nikkors anyway.

I've heard great things about the Sigma 30 f/1.4. Is this lens expected to just be in a different league for the price difference?

Looking at those comparisons, the Siggy is a clear winner for me... It lags on the vignetting side of things, but on the other direct comparisons it looks better to me.

Looks very impressive comapred to the nikon version at 1.4 and f2: http://www.lenstip.com/359.4-Lens_review-Sigma_A_35_mm_f_1.4_DG_HSM_Image_resolution.html

Very heavy vignetting but that isn't the end of the world.

Having just switched over to Canon I got this instead of a 35L. Thus far I'm very impressed with the images and build quality from it. I like it more than the Nikon 35G I previously used.

Got mine from B&H yesterday. Played around a bit, but no images to show yet. I like vignetting, so that's not a drawback for me. I like what I see so far.

I really enjoy my Sigmalux 50. It focuses fast and sure. Bokeh is nice too.

I've used the Sigmalux. Bokeh was very nice but the lens struggled - compared to Canon 50/1.4 - in both focus accuracy in servo mode as well as low-light shooting in one-shot mode, where the Sigma would sometimes hunt and give up while the Canon had no such problem at all. Also, the Canon was noticeably faster to achieve AF lock in one-shot mode compared to Sigmalux when swapping back and forth between the lenses.

Last night I put it through some paces at an outdoor festival. It is really sharp at f/1.4, way more in focus hits than my Nikon 35mm f/1.4G.

I absolutely love this lens so far on my D800 bodies. Just posted a blog entry about my thoughts on this lens right out of the box with a 100% crop to show how sharp it is.. .http://jaycassariophoto.com

Darn you people...I had just felt like I talked myself out of getting it.
Now, the question is where I can find one before the year ends so i can get on this year's taxes

Different league (A) and it's a full frame lens, the 30 isn't.
Pro build, too...I kept lookin' for Zeiss on the barrel. Seriously!

I've used sigma 30 in past on 60d. If I'm not mistaken it is not meant for full frame. It is pretty good lens for the price.
