"The new Sigma Optimization Pro software and USB Dock are designed exclusively for these new product lines and will enable Sigma users to connect their lenses to their computers to update lens firmware and fine-tune focus parameters via easy-to-use, on-screen controls."
Just imagine what the Canon and Nikon engineers said when they saw this
And I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that a new Sigma 24 f/1.4 is on the way...
KY: Yes, it's like a micro-adjustment in the body. But for in-body micro-adjustment, you can only change the focus correction for the entire focusing range. If you are happy with the focus accuracy at infinity, but you are not happy with it at three meters, when you change the settings for three meters then you are off at infinity. The focus position for the lens is not linear. With this software, customers can choose a specific focus distance at which to shift the focus position.
DE: And you can adjust multiple focus distances, and basically change the curve.
KY: Yes, and in the case of zoom lenses, photographers can also choose the focal distance.
DE: For the different focal lengths. Wow.
KY: This is just an example, so this is not the real user interface (referring to image at right). They can choose the focal length, and they can also choose the focusing distance.
DE: That's very sophisticated. There is really nothing else like this.
KY: Micro-adjustment is basically a trial and error technology, so I don't think it's very easy to use. Even micro-adjustment in the camera body, it's not very easy. But we wanted to offer this kind of option to our customers anyway. ...Show more →

OH that micro adjust via USB KILLS. So much more flexible than MA in the camera. I suspect there may be some in camera MA also as bodies and lenses tend to have their own quirks but still that software will be the S#!^.

"The new USB Dock allows users to update the lens firmware themselves, but that’s not all that it can do - you can also change the following:
- Autofocus speed – 3 options= Fast, Normal, Slow
- Focus Limiter – like Sony A99, distance scale via two sliders
- Micro-AF adjust – can select a focal length to adjust and a distance – offers much more control than body-only systems
- On/Off button to toggle between customised options and default settings."

This is super-cool If I had had something like this for my Siggy 85, I would have kept it. Unfortunately, I couldn't MA on my 5Dc, but this may have helped!
It may take a lot of the risk out of the Sigma "lottery".... Makes the 35 very intruiging.

This interview with Sigma's CEO is pretty good. It gets interesting right around the 8 minute mark. He talks about this lens specifically and how it handles CA.

This technology sounds fantastic. Assuming this only be available for the new lenses they release, I wonder if that means we might see updated versions of current lenses such as the sigmalux, and 85mm that incorporate this ability?

This is great for Sigma and will fix the issue of this siggy not working with the latest Canon/Nikon bodies.
Would love to see Sigma offer a competitive dslr with solid high iso iq and a quick and accurate af system.
A major step forward, and potential solution to the current limits of reverse engineering that Sigma and other 3rd party manufacturers face.
