Seems mysterious to me- there is no 35/ 1.4 on their usual website http://www.sigmaphoto.com, at least as far as I can tell. Maybe this is a new product announcement??
it just seems like a dumb idea to me - and will only confuse less knowledgeable photographers in addition to making their lineup seem LESS versatile. apparently, that 120-300 2.8 is ONLY to be used for sports. bad choice for any wildlife or portrait work.
even if you think it's a great idea; the 'reorganization', seems premature to publish these pages with only 3 lenses on them
I'm very interested in this lens. Kudos to Sigma... they won my money on 50mm and 85mm... now is probably the time for a 35mm. I tested the Nikon and while is an impressive lens I considered that is too expensive...
What I hate is that Sigma seems to be again heavier than Nikon... 13 glass elements in 11 groups... Nikon has 10 elements in 7 groups... but I'll get it as soon as hits the market.
It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't have officially announced this for Photokina. Heck, in the past Sigma has announced gear that was still a year down the pipe.
35mm 1.4 Sigma -- Dream come true lens. Now the only thing else I could ask for is a 135 F2.
And I think I LOVE the new look. Combination of Zeiss and Sigma 85mm 1.4. I'm sure they'll release a new version of the 85 and 50 with this same fit/finish sometime down the line too.
Ya, the new look is nice. I will probably end up with this. I love the rokinon/samyang 35mm but it sure would be nice to have the same sharpness with autofocus. And there is no way I'm paying for the nikon 35mm 1.4g.
Okay, I'm not an artist. Nor am I contemporary. That leaves sports with my Bigma and 70-200. The closest I get to sports is the occasional Cubs game on TV. I guess I have to sell my Sigma lenses and get some other brand?
I sincerely hope that lens is a joke. No EX designation (so who knows what its build quality will be), awful MTF chart (sharp in the very center but falls off steeply towards edges and corners), even worse vignetting (loses 80% of illumination at corners at f/1.4).
