I ventured out again today again with the 1DX and 500mm II + the 1.4x III. No pods so this combo was handheld for about four hours. A bit tiring but manageable.

NOTE: Edited. It was the 500mm II not the 400mm II.

Thanks Jerry. I have to say you've been pulling out the stops in the last few pages - really excellent work.
I'm liking the low contrast shots from Geert and John_T too. I intend to try to blatantly copy that dandelion shot too: Thanks for the "inspiration"
I've been a bit busy the last few days, and my "hobby time" mostly got taken up with the LR performance testing i put on the PP&P forum a few days ago. So i've not got the rest of my kitchen window shots processed yet. So i will complete the sunset collection (all are from the same day). 350D, 70-200mm f/2.8L non IS:
Once again, I find myself in awe over the depth and quality of the imaging on this thread..Way to Go Ladies & Gentlemen... .
Tenn.Jer, Pingflood, DB, Peter, 15Bit, Geert, Kodakeos, and anyone else I left out: Wow, that says it all...
We had our first real hard-frost last night, results shown on the leaf. Taken with the 70-200mm MKII L, with the Canon two element 500D close-up lens (77mm) attached. The stage photos were taken during a dress rehearsal (Charlie Brown Musical) at a local school (pre-Thanksgiving tradition), using the FD 300 F2.8L (modified to EOS with the EdMika adapter) and the 70-200mm MKII L.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving, spending good-time with family and friends.
Autumn in Southern California? That means less leaves on the apricot tree and a chance of precipitation!
I am totally loving the color and contrast of this 1Ds3! I thought the 1Ds2 was (and still is) pretty great for color, but this model is even punchier it seems. Special thanks to Jim Colwell for technical assistance.
A break in the showers as I check out how the EF 35/2.0 does. Despite soft edges and corners at f/5.6, the lens is pretty breathtaking on this body -- making the new version II even more intriguing. Shot with various apertures from 2.0 to 8.0 at ISO 100.
One of our more brilliant season markers here are the collection of the cactuses around the home. On Thursday, the buds appeared on one of them, and today they are pretty much in full bloom. The starter plant dates back to 1948, when I "started" too... .
Taken on the 5D MkII with the 100mm L IS Macro (love that lens).
Amazing storm, love the Shenandoah Valley, moose, autumn in The Lowlands (and in L.A.; pelicans and roadrunners on the same walk?!), Jennie on the trail, and Edd's Christmas Cactus (mine is in the closet until next week)....and many more..
Great Stuff, folks
The High School swim season starts this time of year, and we had the first meet yesterday; I shoot them for the parents (except when The Photo Guy is hired by the school) and have always used a 1D Mark IV - but next time I'm going to try the 5DIII, just to see if the improvement at ISO's around 3200 or above is worth the 4 fps drop in speed...I sort of dread the results of that test; swimming is almost the only justification I have left now for keeping the 1 series camera...
